Feb 8 Special event for interns from NCARB and AIA New Hampshire Designing your Future: Creating Value in Your Career, Lavallee Brensinger Architects, Manchester, 6:30-8:30 pm, no charge. Topics will include: The entities involved in the licensure process; How to progress successfully through the Intern Development Program; brief overview of the Architect Registration Examination (ARE); the value of the NCARB Certificate; and recent changes to NCARB programs. The presentation will also cover tips to making a successful transition from school to work and pursuing licensure once employed. High Design and Performance: The Passivhaus. Join us for this AIANH Chapter Meeting featuring a tour of Regeneration Park in Portsmouth, appetizers and drinks at Demeter's Steakhouse, and a presentation on Passivhaus, a European building energy standard that strives for a radical 90% reduction in heating energy. It is a concept gaining popularity rapidly in Germany and Austria (20,000 - 30,000 completed structures), and has attracted a great deal of attention in the US in the past few years for being a possible path towards the deep reductions in greenhouse gasses that we need to bring about. Presentation by Jesse Thompson AIA, Kaplan Thompson Architects in Portland, ME, a certified Passivhaus Consultant.
