The dynamic Architecture program offers the opportunity to participate in an exciting area of higher education which integrates professional preparation with the liberal arts, while emphasizing the program's core values of sustainable design and connecting with the real world of professional practice. Keene State College's Architecture Program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2008 academic year. The Architecture Program offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture, providing students with a solid foundation in the artistic, scientific, and technical aspects of architecture. Currently, one-quarter of the graduating class (average 25) goes immediately into a graduate program, and many others enter graduate programs after working for a few years in a design firm. The program employs collaborative and problem-based learning, and promotes sustainable design in all aspects of the curriculum.
Candidates must have professional experience and demonstrate excellence in applied architectural design. Teaching responsibilities will focus on design studios, and also include courses in visual communication and building science. The successful candidate will be expected to take an active role in integrating digital design technologies in all aspects of the curriculum. This position involves a three course teaching load per semester; participation in advising, curriculum development, and other college-wide committee work. Faculty also have the opportunity to teach courses in our new Integrative Studies Program, a transformational general education approach.
