Description

House on the Point is a transitional coastal residence that thoughtfully integrates architecture, landscape, and high-performance design along the New England shoreline. Guided by a clear concept of framing a dialogue between home, horizon, and water, the project preserves existing natural features while creating a strong visual and spatial connection to its setting. Driven by the client’s commitment to sustainability, the home is net-zero ready, combining a high-performance envelope, triple-pane glazing, geothermal systems, and on-site solar energy. These strategies enhance energy efficiency, durability, and long-term resilience in a coastal environment. The design balances traditional form with modern performance, articulated through a central stair that aligns precisely between two mature trees, framing a view to the water beyond. Passive solar orientation, natural shading, and durable, low-impact materials further reinforce environmental responsiveness. The result is a refined, sustainable home that is both grounded in place and forward-looking.
